ABOUT ME

Hi there! My name is Mia Joe Huether and I’m a New York City based actress, singer, and songwriter. I was born in Michigan, but grew up in a very small town in Nebraska for most of my life before moving to NYC to get my BFA in Musical Theater at Pace University.

My first vivid theater memory was seeing the Lion King Broadway tour when I was in fourth grade… and my life being completely changed. I knew, in that moment, that all I wanted to do was pretend play and tell stories for a living. I couldn’t believe people were so blessed to have that as their job. After that, I begged my mother to see any show I could that was touring or showing around where we lived. When I finally started participating in theater in high school after being tricked into auditioning for the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe my freshman year, I fell in love even more. Being onstage and telling stories was the first time that this little anxious girl finally felt true peace. I knew I couldn’t stop.

Music has always been an incredibly important part of my life. It was how I bonded with my older brother, how I found true connection, and how I learned to express myself. From learning flute in middle school to writing my first song on the ukulele when I was little, I’ve always had a special place for any kind of musical art. Songwriting was the musical journal I needed to find healing and peace throughout my life and continues to serve that purpose for me now.

I’m very passionate about mental health, ED awareness, and feminism. When I’m not performing or creating art of my own, I love to watch horror movies (with some rom coms on the side, of course), read romance novels, attempt new hobbies, and collect rubber ducks.
